Sun, Moon, Sky

Another thing I gain upon moving to the edge of small town in rural Illinois was the night world.  At one point in my life, I somehow started not sleeping much.  I could stay up all night, working away in my garage studio on art projects spread out everywhere.  I watched PBS, drank coffee, smoked (oh for those daysssss), had an outdoor fire.  It was the happiest I've ever been in my whole life.  Sadly, as friends have pointed out (repeatedly), it also made me manic, a little unhinged, it led to me being a real danger trying to drive the 24 miles into town, given I could literally fall asleep at Jimmy Johns.   I no longer continue this practice, realizing how unhealthy not sleeping is, and have relapsed into my very sleepy state of most of my life, at least I have the experiences and the photographs that were the result of my night time years, the spiders, the snakes, the birds, and of course the sky and moon and stars.
