Fauna

This part of my portfolio was extremely difficult for me, as I have hundreds and hundreds of images I've taken over time, some purely serendipitous, the result of just walking and driving around the world outside of human habitation.  Some images are very very close to me, the small mammals who have shared their lives with me over the past 30 years.  I would say, without a doubt, the most intimate and moving experiences of my lifetime have been the result of interactions with the "animal kingdom," the tiny racoons who fled to me for protection one night on a dark country road; the baby skunks who were "big and bad" in their own eyes; the toad that looked through my sliding glass door every night until I finally moved it to the river; the family of foxes that had a den at the back of my meadow.  I will never ever take those experiences for granted.
